A complete printable Nintendo collectors list list of games can be found Here Nintendo released 296 different titles for the 64 bit console in North America (U.S.). The release dates for these games ranged from 1996-2002.
Ok so this PS One thing got me thinking of N64 again. A common theme I keep hearing from people is that it wasn’t a good system and it didn’t have enough good games without Rare to fill out a collection. Which is absolutely bogus. Just Nintendo alone can make a 20+ collection.
Below I created a list of Nintendo games (no rare) and a few 3rd party games that I feel have a shot at making the collection. For sure games Nintendo games. Mario 64 Star Fox 64 Pilotwings 64 Mario Kart 64 Mario Party 2 Mario Tennis 64 Mario Golf 64 Kirby Paper Mario 64 Zelda Ocarina of Time Zelda Majoras Mask Donkey Kong 64 F Zero X 1080 Super Smash Bros.
Pokemon Snap Pokemon Puzzle League Sin and Punishment Yoshi’s Story Pokemon Stadium 2? Waverace 64 Exitebike 64 A bit iffy but totally possible. Cruis n USA (Not a great game but a big part of N64 history) Rayman 2 (Ubisoft and Nintendo in bed together and this was a great great version of this game) Ridge Racer 64 (developed by Nintendo. Can be licensed from Namco) Ogre Battle 64 (Shows up on every virtual console service and published by Nintendo on N64) Bomberman 64 Long shot Turok 2 Yeah of course you're missing the Rare/Acclaim/Midway/Starwars/Wrestling heavy hitters that helped define the N64 but you can come up with a 20+ list easily.
Nintendo themselves even without Rare or 3rd parties can do 20+ and imo all quality games. Sprinkle 2-4 3rd party games and I’d say that is a hell of a collection. Honestly the biggest issue is not if you can fill out the collection but more so how do you add 4 controllers to this. Especially at how big the N64 controllers were. Lot of good games on that list, and reminds me what a great console the N64 was back in the day.
An 'N64 classic' without Goldeneye and Perfect Dark though? Hard to sell that as genuine 'best of' device rather than a compromise. That's without getting into the other Rare titles.
Just don't think it will fly with the fans. Although I do think its entirely possible that MS would sign off on the Rare games, for the right price. In terms of four controllers, they wouldn't give you four. They might sell extras if you wanted four.
If Nintendo does strike a deal with Rare, what games would be added? -Diddy Kong Racing -Banjo -Maybe Banjo 2. I say maybe because they didn't put DKC2 on the SNES Classic, leading me to believe that they don't put every sequel you'd want.Maybe Jet Force Gemini -If they can get the right for James Bond, then Goldeneye which would be a big play even if it hasn't aged well But I actually wouldn't expect Conker or Perfect Dark due to their Mature ESRB rating. That M might hurt Nintendo's family friendly sales. And I dont think Killer Instinct makes the cut. I don't think we're really talking about that many games. Am I missing stuff?

Without No Mercy and various Rare titles I don't know if I'm interested.
I'm sure it'll be hackable like the others, though, but I might wait for confirmation. My list would be something like Mario Pilotwings Mario Kart Wave Race F-Zero X Pokemon Puzzle League 1080 Snowboarding Goldeneye WWF No Mercy Banjo-Kazooie Banjo-Tooie Conker's BFD Zelda Zelda 2 Star Fox 64 Perfect Dark At least one of the Turoks Blast Corps One and only one of the Mario Parties Paper Mario Harvest Moon 64 Bomberman 64 Smash Bros some Mario Golf/Tennis/etc fun sports games If they can get 80% of that list, I'll buy. I don't think there are a lot of worthwhile N64 games, but there are definitely gems. Ok so this PS One thing got me thinking of N64 again.
